ఒక వ్యక్తి మనతో చెప్పిన మాటలను యధాతదముగా మరొక వ్యక్తికి చెప్పినట్లయితే అది
Direct speech అవుతుంది.
ఒక వ్యక్తి మనతో చెప్పిన మాటలను మనం వేరొక వ్యక్తికి చెప్పేటప్పుడు యధాతదముగా కాకుండా దాని భావాన్ని మాత్రమే చెప్పినట్లయితే అది indirect speech అవుతుంది.
( మన సాధారణంగా ఒక వ్యక్తి చెప్పిన మాటలను మరొక వ్యక్తి చెప్పేటప్పుడు ఎక్కువగా indirect speech లోనే చెప్తాము.)
Direct speech లో ఉన్న "forms "indirect speech లోకి ఏ విధంగా change అవుతాయో ఇప్పుడు చూద్దాం.

Have, Has = Had
Shall = should
Will = would
May = might
Can = could
This = that
These = those
Now = then
Here = there
Today = that day
Tomorrow = the next day

Last night = the previous night

Next week/month = the following week/month

Was = had been
రాజు నాతో హ్యాపీగా ఉన్నానని చెప్పాడు.
Raju said to me i am happy (direct speech)
Raju told me that He was happy
(Indirectspeech)
Told to me అని వాడకూడదు, Told me నే వాడాలి. That ని పెట్టిన ఒక్కటే పెట్టకున్నా ఒక్కటే.
మానస you are wrong అని చెప్పింది.
Manasa told me that i was wrong.
శశి రమేష్ తో I will go to Hyderabad tomorrow అని చెప్పాడు.
Shashi told Ramesh that he would go to the Hyderabad the next day.
జ్యోతి నిన్న హ్యాపీగా ఉందని చెప్పింది.
Jyoti told me she was happy
మా బ్రదర్ నాతో హ్యాపీగా ఉన్నానని చెప్పాడు.
My brother told me that he was happy.
నేను ఇంట్లో ఉన్నానని మా నాన్న నాతో చెప్పాడు.
My father told me that he was at home.
నిన్న మా బ్రదర్ రాజమండ్రి లో ఉన్నానని చెప్పాడు.
My brother told me that he was in Rajahmundry previous day.
My brother Last year హైదరాబాదులో ఉన్నానని నాతో చెప్పాడు.
My brother told me that he had been in Hyderabad last year.
Direct and indirect speech లో
Simple present అనేది simple fast గా మారుతుంది.
సీతా నాతో చెప్పింది,i like sweets
Sita told me that she liked sweets.
రాజు ఏం చెప్పాడంటే i play cricket.
Raju told me that he played cricket
Raju told me that he plays cricket.
ఇలా కూడా చెప్పవచ్చు.
అలవాట్లను గతంలోకి(past )మార్చవలసిన అవసరం లేదు.
Raju says,that he plays cricket
ఈ విధంగా కూడా చెప్పవచ్చు.
Direct speech/ indirect speech లో present continuous tense అనేది past continuous tense గా మారిపోతుంది.
జ్యోతి ఏమి చెబుతుందంటే I am going to market.
Jyoti told me that she was going to market.
Direct speech/ indirect speech లో Present perfect tense అనేది past perfect tense గా మారుతుంది.
జ్యోతి మిత్ర తో చెప్పింది I have seen that movie.
Jyoti told Mitra that she had seen that movie
Direct speech /indirect speech లో present perfect continuous tense అనేది past perfect continuous tense గా మారుతుంది.
నా ఫ్రెండ్ నాతో చెప్పాడు prakash has been trying for a promotion.
My friend told me that prakash had been trying for a promotion.
ప్రకాష్ నాతో చెప్పాడు. I have been to Hyderabad 10 times.
Prakash told me that he had been to Hyderabad 10 times.
To
Verb తో start అయ్యే వాటికి ముందు " to " join చేస్తే సరిపోతుంది.
He said to me drink some water (direct)
నీళ్లు తాగమని అతను నాతో చెప్పాడు
He told me to drink some water
అమ్మ నాతో కూరగాయలు తీసుకుని రమ్మని చెప్పింది.
Mom said to me bring vegetables
Mom told me to bring vegetables
టీవీ ఆఫ్ చేయమని మా నాన్న నాతో చెప్పాడు.
Dad said to me switch off the TV
Dad told me to switch off the TV
ఇంటి దగ్గరే ఉండమని సీఎం మనకు చెప్పాడు.

టైము వేస్ట్ చేసుకోవద్దని ఆమె నాతో చెప్పింది.

Yes or No questions:
Be forms తో /helping verb తో start అయ్యితే
Yes or No questions కి" If "ని use చేయాలి.
"Whether "ని కూడా use చేయవచ్చు, రెండూ ఒక్కటే.
She said to me "are you fine"?
నువ్వు బాగున్నావా అని ఆమె నన్ను అడిగింది.
She asked me if i was fine
పైన beform "are"ఉంది కాబట్టి if ని use చేసాము.
నువ్వు వచ్చావా అని ఆమె నన్ను అడిగింది
She said to me "did you come"
She asked me if I had come Direct speech
Direct speech లో simple past ఉంటే indirect speech లో past perfect అవుతుంది.
పైన helping verb" did "ఉంది కాబట్టి if ని use చేసాము.
WH questions :
WH questions కి "IF "వాడాల్సిన అవసరం లేదు.
ఎలా ఉన్నావు అని ఆమె నన్ను అడిగింది.
She said to me "how are you"
She asked me how I was
నువ్వు ఏమి చేస్తున్నావ్ అని అతను నన్ను అడిగాడు.
He said to me what are you doing.
He asked me what I was doing.
